Why it matters

Many of the roles I have held have involved creating or expanding a market for something customers did not yet fully understand. Speaking was not a side activity. It was part of the job.

I have presented at more than 100 conferences, exhibitions and industry events across Australia, New Zealand, China, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, the United States and England.

What that required

The audience could be asset managers, engineers, executives, government leaders, technology buyers or industry peers. The useful skill was the same: take something technically complex, connect it to the operating problem the audience already understands, and make the implications clear without turning the session into a product pitch.

Recurring themes

Asset managementMaintenance, asset lifecycle, work management and operational improvement.
Smarter infrastructureConnected buildings, IoT, monitoring, analytics and emerging operational intelligence.
Investment planningLong-term condition, risk and capital decision-making.
Enterprise transformationHow technology changes work, rather than simply replacing an old application.

Why it maps to current roles

Industry AI roles often require someone who can work with engineers in the morning, a customer operations team after lunch and then explain the strategic opportunity to an executive audience. That translation layer has been part of my work for decades.
