I work where customer problems, operating models and technology collide. I uncover the real problem, shape the solution, build enough to prove it, and help turn it into something people can trust and use.
The product is rarely the answer on its own. The job is to understand the workflow, the people, the constraints and the value at stake, then work backwards into a solution that changes the outcome.
Start with what is actually happening in the customer's operation. If they tell me the proposed answer will not work, understand why before defending it.
Turn an emerging idea into a workshop, model, demonstration or working proof so customers can react to something real rather than a technology promise.
As AI moves from insight toward action, keep evidence, human judgement, deterministic controls and independent verification around it.
Across more than three decades, the pattern is remarkably consistent: learn the system deeply, understand the operating problem, help shape what the solution needs to become, explain an emerging idea to the market, and prove that customers will act on it.
The chronology is useful. The more important story is the repeating role at the edge between customer reality and what technology could become next: pioneer the idea, translate it into an operational outcome, prove it with the customer, and feed what we learn back into the solution.

A principle I was following long before generative AI made the building part dramatically faster.
The book is another example of the same process: see a recurring problem in the field, understand the pattern, codify a point of view, then turn the thinking into something people can actually use.

After decades working on both sides of complex enterprise decisions, I kept seeing the same thing: good solutions were not always losing to better competitors. Increasingly, they were losing because large buying groups could not reach enough confidence to act.
The book turns that observation into a practical framework around stakeholder alignment and decision confidence. Symphony is the next step: operationalising that thinking inside the deal rather than leaving it in a book or training room.

I am most useful as a senior individual contributor at the intersection of customer, product, engineering and commercial teams, especially when the organisation knows the problem matters but the answer is not obvious yet.
I do my best work with real customer problems, enough autonomy to experiment, and leaders who value informed challenge. I am comfortable leading from the front without needing a hierarchy underneath me.
